Dr. J. Roger Accardi, an associate professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Florida, is the president and owner of Accardi Clinical Pharmacy. This pharmacy offers more than any conventional pharmacy. A registered nurse initially interviews each new patient. This is followed by a meeting with one of the Doctors of Pharmacy to record their existing medications along with new prescriptions and focus on possible side effects, drug interactions, optimal times to administer their prescriptions, and the role of over-the-counter medications. If needed, a Pharmacy Care Plan is designed and these recommendations are faxed to the primary care physician for his/her review. A copy is also given to the patient.
